Texsource Chem 400 - Ink Degradent is a heavy-duty screen printing chemical designed specifically for the ink breakdown stage of the screen reclamation process. Engineered to tackle stubborn ink systems, Chem 400 rapidly dissolves and liquefies plastisol, UV, and solvent-based screen printing inks directly in the washout booth.
Formulated with advanced emulsifiers, Chem 400 makes ink water-soluble so it can be blasted cleanly out of the mesh fabric with a pressure washer. This clean rinse prevents dissolved ink from reattaching to the polyester fibers or locking into the direct emulsion stencil during subsequent reclaim steps.
Chem 400 is biodegradable and drain safe when flushed in compliance with municipal regulations. Its high solvency power cuts through thick ink deposits on manual and automatic screens, squeegees, and flood bars without attacking screen frames or mesh adhesive.

Wash-Booth Application & Safety Protocol
Directions for Washout Booth Use
- Card Off Excess Ink: Scrape all bulk plastisol or solvent ink off the screen printing mesh prior to entering the washout booth.
- Apply Chem 400: Spray or apply Chem 400 directly onto both the squeegee side and shirt side of the screen.
- Agitate & Emulsify: Scrub both sides of the screen thoroughly using a chemical-resistant brush or scrub pad until ink fully liquefies.
- High-Pressure Rinse: Wash the emulsified ink away with a pressure washer, working systematically from the bottom of the screen to the top.
- Proceed to Reclaim: Follow immediately with emulsion remover to strip direct emulsion or capillary film.
