Q: Why is horizontal screen storage critical during darkroom drying?

A: Freshly coated emulsion must dry horizontally with the print/substrate side facing down. Drying screens on a horizontal rack allows gravity to settle the emulsion flat against the garment side of the mesh, building the necessary emulsion-over-mesh (EOM) gasket for crisp, high-opacity ink laydown.
